In 2006-2010, the gross harvest of potatoes in the world grew by almost 9%: from 306 to 333 million tons. Secondly, potatoes are the main source of energy for the majority of the world's poor. Per unit of area, potatoes yield more yield in a shorter time and in a smaller area than any other crop. Thirdly, in addition to carbohydrates, potatoes contain the greatest amount of proteins compared to other root crops. It is rich in vitamin C and contains only 1 percent fat.
