The largest manufacturing country in 2013-2017 with a large margin was the United States. In 2017, more than 61.1 million tons of petroleum coke or more than 47.5% of world output was produced in the USA. For comparison: the second largest producer in the world - China - in 2017 produced 19.2 million tons, which corresponds to 14.9% of world production. At the same time, the United States also holds the leadership in the world in the production of petroleum coke per capita with an indicator of 187.5 kg / person per year.
It is worth noting that the production of petroleum coke in the United States is focused primarily on exports. So, in 2017, with the volume of domestic production of 61.1 million tons, the country exported 39.7 million tons. In 2013-2017, there was a tendency to increase production for export: the share of exported products in the total production increased from 60.3% in 2013 to 64.9% in 2017
According to forecasts of BusinesStat, in 2018-2022, the production of petroleum coke in the world will continue to grow at an average rate of 1.5% per year and in 2022 will reach 138.7 million tons. At the same time, the structure of world production will not change significantly. The leader will remain the United States.
