Description
According to BusinesStat, in the period from 2011 to 2015, sales of grain crops on the world market grew by 27% and in 2015 amounted to 3.25 billion tons. The main reason for the increase in demand is the rapid population growth, primarily in developing countries. However, in 2015, the most cereals were sold in China, the USA and India.
In 2011-2015, the most popular in the world market was corn, which accounted for an average of about 36% of all sales of grain crops in the world. Corn is the most important fodder crop. It preserves its nutritional value mainly in developing countries, especially in Latin America, in the Middle East. Recently, corn has been used to produce ethanol, which performs the function of lead additives in gasoline.
The share of rice accounted for about 29% of all sales of grain crops in the world. Rice is a grain crop that feeds half of the world's population. Consumption of rice varied: processing for cereals, flour, starch, alcohol, beer and other products. High quality tissue paper and various woven products are made from rice straw.
The third place on this indicator was occupied by wheat - about 26% of sales of grain crops in the world. There are hard and soft varieties of wheat. Soft wheat is used mainly for the production of flour sent to the bakery, confectionery, partly to the pasta and cereals industry. Durum wheat is the best raw material for pasta production. In addition, grain and its waste during harvesting (chaff, straw) and bran feed domestic animals. Paper is made of straw, mobile walls, roofs, mats, household items.
The remaining types of grain crops in 2011-2015 accounted for about 9% of sales.
