Description
Description
In 2009-2013, sales of vegetable oils in the world showed a positive trend. Over the five-year period, the figure grew by 20% and in 2013 amounted to 159.3 million tons. For 5 years, the decline in the natural sales of vegetable oils in the world was recorded in 2011 - by 2.1%. The decline was caused by a significant increase in the price of products sold against the background of a sharp increase in the cost of raw materials for vegetable oils, caused by adverse natural conditions in 2010-2011 in various regions of the world.
In 2009-2013, China was the leader among the countries of the world in terms of sales of vegetable oils, which, on average, accounted for almost 19% of the world market for the period. The second place was occupied by India, and the third - the United States. Other major consumers of vegetable oils in the world were Malaysia, Indonesia and Brazil. In 2013, the six countries listed accounted for 52% of all vegetable oils sold in the world.
Among the types of vegetable oil, palm and palm kernel oil are the most popular: in 2014, 63 million tons of such products were sold in the world, which represents about 40% of the total market volume. Soybean and rapeseed oils also occupy significant shares in sales.
