Description
According to BusinesStat, over the past five years, sales of gluten on the world market increased by 22%: from 1.28 million tons in 2011 to 1.57 million tons in 2015. The largest increase in the indicator compared to previous years was observed in 2013 - by 22 %
The basis for the growth was the active launch of new projects for the deep processing of grain. Wheat gluten is gaining popularity in the food industry market, especially given the relatively low proportion of high-quality food grains. The flour-milling industry makes extensive use of flour improvers, and gluten is the most common. In addition to bakers and flour millers, gluten is actively used by manufacturers of animal feed, meat products and semi-finished products.
In 2011-2015, the Netherlands, the USA, Belgium and France were the leaders in the sale of gluten in the world. In the period under review, the share of the Netherlands in world sales averaged 16%, the share of the United States was about 15%, the share of Belgium was 11%, and the share of France was 8%.
In the next five years, sales of gluten in the world will actively grow. In 2020, they will reach 1.87 million tons, which will exceed the value of the same indicator in 2015 by almost 20%. At the same time, the weight of the Netherlands as the main global consumer of gluten in the sale of gluten will grow: in 2020, more than 16% of the global sales of wheat gluten will be sold in the country.
